Wavefield: Continuity and Change

LOCATION: Zurich, CH

PROGRAM: Landscape

STATUS: Competition

TEAM: Patrick Reuter, Veruska Vasconez, Shane Jezowski, Markus Winter Landscape architect, Andreas Bayer WMM Engineers AG

The landscaped wave field serves as the overarching design principle. It becomes a connecting element, creates continuity, stands for change, and thematizes the field of tension: city, land, and water. This finely curved and folded landscape opens spaces both to the lake side and to the street side and may thus create versatile and changing spatial relationships alternating between intimacy and accessibility. This principle is applied to the surface as well as to the longitudinal and cross-sections, defining spatial sequences, visual references, and stratifications while creating fluid transitions.
